About 60Gapja
60Gapja makes Korean Saju apps for English speakers: Jeolgi, a Four Pillars calculator that shows how every pillar was computed, and Gapja, a Saju reading app built on the same engine.
60Gapja is named for the sixty-pair cycle of stems and branches (육십갑자) that counts the years, months, days and hours in every Saju chart. The studio is based in Atlanta, Georgia, and builds for English speakers first: people who met Saju through Korean film, music and travel and could not find a calculator they could trust or a reading they could follow.
What we believe
- The chart is arithmetic and should be exactly right. Our engine is tested against the Korean reference almanac used by professional readers, with boundary cases kept as regression tests.
- The reading is a tradition, not a measurement, so it should be consistent and should say where each conclusion comes from.
- Birth time and place matter, and the user should see the corrections rather than trust a black box.
The two apps
Jeolgi is the calculator. Gapja is the reading. Both are sold separately and share one calculation engine.
